Nanoelectronics and Nanosensors (FTE-NENS)

This group is headed by Prof. Zhen Zhang. We are exploring advanced nanofabrication technology and novel nanodevice concepts towards applications in biotechnology and energy. We are also interested in cryogenic operation of Silicon nanodevices for quantum chip applications.
In the biotechnology application area, our focus is on novel nanoscale sensor concepts targeting detection of ions and charged molecules (such as DNA) with high signal output, low noise and short response time. We are also further exploring our nanosensor technologies for novel biomedical applications of significant societal importance, such as rapid antibiotic resistance tests and single molecule/cell trapping and analysis for drug screening.
In the energy application area, we are currently working on contact optimization for an energy-efficient 3D chip technology and device integration for high-performance flexible thermoelectrics.
